A LIFETIME OF CHAIRS
This is a cut paper, stop motion animation I created for a hypothetical family-run chair emporium.
The concept centers around providing chairs for all branches of life, from infancy to retirement.
I PHYSICALLY MADE EACH PROP AND CHARACTER.
I cut out each individual color of paper and glued them together. If there were any pieces that animated (for example, the baby's arms or the floating hearts) I kept them separate.
The music in the following process video was made by Bensound.
WHILE THE CHARACTERS THEMSELVES WERE MADE OF PAPER, I ANIMATED THEIR FACES DIGITALLY.
THIS WAS INSPIRED BY A DAILY PASSION PROJECT.
To continuously illustrate no matter how hectic school and work became, I drew chairs daily for a total of 20 days. By the end, it was evident how different every chair was depending on its intended purpose. This observation inspired the entire animation project.
